Brian Jones, Superintendent of Amory Schools, to Retire at End of 2026 School Year
Brian Jones, Superintendent of Amory School District, has announced his plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year. Jones has served as superintendent in Amory for four and a half years, following an equal tenure as superintendent of Webster County Schools. With a total of 28 years in education, he brings a long and dedicated career to a close.
Jones started his educational career at Itawamba Agricultural High school, where he spent five years as a US History teacher and coached football, cross country and golf. Much of Jones’s professional journey has been rooted in Amory, where he previously held leadership roles as assistant principal at Amory Middle School, principal of East Amory Elementary School, and principal of Amory High School.
Throughout his time as superintendent, Jones has consistently led A or B rated districts, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence. While at Amory, his district has reached the “A” rating for 3 concessive years. In recent years, he has played a key role in guiding the district through recovery efforts, including the rebuilding of athletic facilities damaged by the 2023 tornado.
His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on the Amory School District and its community.
